These globes are coated with deep blue lapis lazuli. The globes use individual hand cut pieces of mineral, hard stones and semi-precious stones to form the countries. the larger globes can support more detail and stone variety, which can include malachite, mother of pearl, jasper, amethyst, crystal, agate and tiger's eye. Well over forty types are used for the larger sizes.
No two globes are exactly the same. the lines of latitude and longitude are fine gilded wire and the names of the countries are silk screen printed.
Meridians and stands are gold-plated or blue lapis lazuli coated. |
